In 2022 we have been working with Dimbola Museum on the Isle of Wight. Dimbola Museum is the former home and studio of Victorian photographer Julia Margret Cameron, who lived in Freshwater between. 1860 and 1875. The museum is located close to the coastal path and a short walk away from Afton Downs, the former location of the Isle of Wight Festival in the 1970s. Now a gallery and adjacent book shop and Cafe, Dimbola hosts a collection of prints by Julia Margret Cameron, a small collection of photographs and posters from the Isle of Wight Festival, as well as showing contemporary photography exhibitions by emerging and prominent artists, including Annie Leibovitz, Patti Smith, Terry O’Neil, Gerd Mankowitz and Marilyn Stafford.
We have been working with Dimbola in 2022 to consult on a reorganisation of the permanent galleries and camera collection, the restoration of the darkroom facilities, educational activities, funding and exhibition programming.
