Creative arts students and emerging talent in the creative industries face specific challenges such as the uncertainty of the creative market, the pressures of stage performance, being exposed to wider audiences, high expectations of self marketing and social media presence, and the need to consistently demonstrate high levels of creative output and production.
Students who face additional challenges include, for example, students from black, asian or ethnic communities, international students and performers new to London, students who study first in the family, and students who experience gender transitions. Creative practitioners who may encounter further barriers to achievement include, for example, neurodiverse people with autism, ADHD or dislexia, people with mental health conditions and other long term health conditions and people with disabilities.
Wellbeing mentoring aims to support students and professionals to develop a healthy work/life balance, to identify strategies to improve focus, to manage particular challenges and strengthen confidence, self esteem and resilience.
