We are raising £8000 to help the Dabbous family in Gaza buy food and pay for medical treatment
Story
We are raising emergency funds to help the Dabbous family in Gaza to buy food and to pay for medical treatment. The family used to live in the Bureij area in Central Gaza. They had a beautiful garden with 40 olive trees and 30 date trees, which provided the family income, all of which has been destroyed.
Since the start of the war, the family has been displaced several times and was separated while having to evacuate from their homes during the military offensive in Central Gaza. Mohammed, his younger brother Firas and his father, as well as three of the children were injured during an airstrike. Firas had to undergo surgery on his right arm and is in recovery. Mohammed’s young niece Sama was injured during bombings while playing outside. His mother, his sisters and their children stay in an UNWRA school and have insufficient food. We are seeking help to pay for the most urgent necessities, for food, clean water and medical treatment. With the onset of autumn weather and the colder season, we further need funds to buy warm clothes and a tent. Any contribution is welcome and will make a difference, even if small. We are very grateful for your help.
The emergency situation in Gaza
The war in Gaza has been raging for over a year, with over 40.000 people dead, 90.000 wounded and thousands missing, half of them children. Delivery of human aid into Gaza continues to be insufficient, with aid trucks being held up at the checkpoints and unable to get through. Hunger and famine have taken hold across Gaza. Infrastructure has been targeted and is largely destroyed, hospitals are are barely functioning and there is an increased risk of disease, including hepatitis and polio.
Emergency Aid for the Dabbous family
The Dabbous family is a family of 13 adults plus 20 children and infants. They used to live in the Bureij area but had to leave due to the military offensive. When the house was destroyed, they lost all their belongings and left everything behind.
How your donations will be used
All funds will be used to buy food and basic supplies for the family, parents, brothers, sisters and their children, and pay for medical treatment. Food in Gaza is at very high prices. Food and water for a family of 13 plus 20 children for a day costs about 215 Pounds (app 280 Dollars, 250 Euros). All donations will be transferred to Mohammed Dabbous via a safe account.
If we see an end to the war, any remaining funds will be used to rebuild the olive tree garden. Yet at this stage, food and medical care are an utmost priority.
The money will then be spend as follows
Food, water, basic necessities for a family of 13 adults and 20 children: 215£ per day for one month = 6450£
2 tents at 500£ =1000£
Medical treatment: 450£
Clothes: 100£
Thank you. Your donations will help to save lives.
